Our Response

I refer to your email requesting information in respect of NHS East Midlands

ICT 09/10 strategy.

I can confirm in accordance with S.1 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000

that we do hold some information in respect of your request.

I will address each of your points in turn:-

1. ICT Strategy 0910

NHS East Midlands does not have an ICT Directorate or an ICT Strategy.

The Strategic Health Authority (SHA) does have a Strategic IM&T directorate

which is active in influencing the national agenda for the NHS National

Programme for Information Technology (NPfIT) whilst supporting local NHS organisations.  We do not have a separate Strategic IM&T plan for this

organisation – the East Midlands Strategic IM&T plan is the sum of

our constituent Primary Care Trust’s (PCTs) Strategic IM&T Plans –

these are available from our PCTs at the link below:-

http://www.eastmidlands.nhs.uk/the-local-nhs/nhs-organisations

2. ICT Structure (diagram please)

NHS East Midlands does not have an ICT Structure chart or diagram.

The most up-to-date IM&T structure chart can be found on our website

via the following link.  Please remember to check this page regularly

as the chart is likely to be updated within the next two weeks:-

http://www.eastmidlands.nhs.uk/about-us/our-structure/strategic-imt

3. The Trusts Business/Annual/Corporate Plan

NHS East Midlands is not a trust.  As an SHA, our role is to relay and

explain national policy, set direction and support and develop all

NHS Trust bodies (Primary Care Trusts and NHS Trusts providing acute,

mental health and ambulance services). We ensure that local health

systems operate effectively and efficiently for our population.  This includes

making certain that national standards and priorities are met so that the

population of the East Midlands is cared for in high quality, safe

environments and services are continuously improved and developed.
