Private Treatment

Request

I would like to request the following information:

1. How much money was received by NHS organisations in income from

private sector treatment in each of the last three years?

2. How many private sector procedures were carried out in NHS

facilities in each of the last three years?

3. On how many occasions in each of the last three years have NHS

patients received private treatment paid for by the NHS; and was that

treatment carried out in this country or abroad?

Our response

I refer to your email of 12 August requesting information in respect of information relating to private health care.

I can confirm in accordance with S.1 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 that NHS East Midlands does not hold the information that you have requested.  However, I will respond to each of your concerns in turn:-

1.               How much money was received by NHS organisations in income

                 from private sector treatment in each of the last three years?

                 NHS East Midlands does not hold this information.

2.                  How many private sector procedures were carried out in NHS

                 facilities in each of the last three years?

                 NHS East Midlands does not routinely hold or collate this information. 

                However Section 16 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 places a

                duty of advice and assistance on us and I can advise you that this

                information is held by the National Information Centre.  The following

3.                  On how many occasions in each of the last three years have

                 NHS patients received private treatment paid for by the NHS;

                 and was that treatment carried out in this country or abroad?

                 NHS East Midlands does not collect this information
