Request
Subject: FOI request on
medicines funding
I would like to make a Freedom of
Information request regarding medicines funding in the PCT.
Please could you let me know the
following:
1. What is the level of generic
prescribing in primary care in your PCT?
2. How much has the PCT paid for
incentive schemes designed to encourage GPs to prescribe by generic
drug name, rather than brand name, in 2008-2009?
3. Does the PCT plan to retain all of
its any generic prescribing incentive schemes after February 2010
(when the new Pharmaceutical Price Regulation Scheme will allow
pharmacists to substitute products prescribed by brand for generic
equivalent)?
4. What changes does the PCT plan to
make to the provision and funding of generic prescribing incentive
schemes after February 2010?
5. NICE has decided to include an
incremental cost-effectiveness ratio in appraisals of
life-extending, end-of-life treatments. How much does the PCT
expect implementing this guidance to cost it in 2009-2010 and
2010-2011?
6. How does the PCT plan to fund this
additional cost?
7. How will funding for primary care
services be protected from budgetary restrictions resulting from
the additional cost to the PCT of NICE's decision to include an
incremental cost-effectiveness ratio in appraisals of
life-extending, end-of-life treatments?
