I am conducting some research into CBT. I was wondering whether you would be able to provide the following information;
- How many people in the East Midlands underwent CBT in the years 2009 and 2010?
- What was the cost of this treatment?
- How many of these individuals had to undergo more than one cycle/additional sessions of CBT?
- What was the cost of this additional treatment?
Any information could provide would be most helpful.
Our Response
I refer to your email requesting information in respect of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
I can confirm in accordance with S.1 (1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) that we do not hold all of the information that you have requested. However, I will address each of your points in turn:
1. We have trained 320 people in CBT over a three year period up to 2011. In addition we have trained 40 people in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT).
2. Treatment costs vary depending on the type of contract but would cost approximately £150 for step 2 and £500 for step 3 CBT. We do not hold the cost information in terms of Steps 1 and 4.
3. NHS East Midlands does not hold this information
4. We would expect the additional cost to be in line with that at answer 2 unless there was progression to step 4 intervention
