This guide explains what information is routinely published by NHS East Midlands.    It is a description of the information about our Strategic Health Authority (SHA) that is made publicly available as a matter of routine. 

NHS East Midlands has a legal duty to adopt and maintain a Publication Scheme for the publication of NHS East Midlands. The purpose of the Act is to promote greater openness by public authorities.

We will review our Publication Scheme at regular intervals and monitor how it is operating.  It is important to us that this Scheme meets the needs of the public and other stakeholders and we have designed it to be a route map so that you can find information about NHS East Midlands easily. 

The Guide to Information will help you to find all the information that the SHA publishes. The Publication Scheme contains 7 classes of information – information falling in each of these classes is published on our website and can be accessed using the links on the following pages. All information published on the website can be accessed free of charge.

  • Public consultations

NHS East Midlands does not commission or provide any services.  Consultation is carried out mainly by Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and occasionally by providers.

The SHAs main role therefore is to: support PCTs and providers with expert advice and guidance, through network meetings and one-to-ones involving communications and engagement and commissioning leads; benchmark against other PCTs and providers to ensure consistency and monitor compliance with the statutory guidance.

Any regional consultation on a change to service will be taken forward by a lead PCT on behalf of the others. (Section 242 (1B) of the NHS Act 2006).
