Work for Us

As an organisation, we want to ensure that every experience that patients, clients and service users have of the NHS in the East Midlands is the best that it can be.  To make this happen, we need brilliant people, who inspire and deliver change all around them. So that’s why we’re always looking for talented, ambitious and altruistic individuals to come and work with us.

Our culture is to work hard and deliver on all aspectsof providing better health and better care, actively listening to ourpatients, staff and the public and acting upon their feedback.  We also recognise that all our employees have talent and can contribute in a meaningful way to improve the experience of service users. Therefore we make sure that everyone gets the opportunity to continue developing themselves and each other.

NHS East Midlands is committed to an inclusive approach to the employment of those with a physical or mental disability and is therefore a signatory to the “Two Ticks” and "Mindful Employer" charter.

Health and Wellbeing

NHS East Midlands is committed to maintaining a working environment that promotes the physical and mental health and wellbeing of all its employees. All employees have access to Occupational Health and Employee Assistance services.

We are committed to improving the quality of working life for all of our employees. This includes recognition that balancing work and home life is a key consideration for all and a number of work life balance policies and initiatives are in place for all staff to access.

We actively promote an open and supportive management culture, ensuring that staff are able to seek help and support when needed. Staff are encouraged to take personal responsibility for identifying issues relating to health, safety, wellbeing and security and to take action to prevent or minimise those issues.

Developing Our Staff

NHS East Midlands regards the development of its workforce as critical to the delivery of its strategic objectives, key to upholding the values of the NHS Constitution and its ability to achieve sustained high performance.

The organisation is committed to ensuring a focus on appraisals, personal development plans, coaching and mentoring and listening to staff. Ensuring that staff are clear about what they are doing and why, and have the skills to do their jobs are crucial if we are to continue to deliver high quality patient care during very challenging times.  An organisation wide appraisal process that focuses on performance and personal development helps deliver this.

Core statutory/mandatory training for all staff has been identified through legislative and statutory requirements, recommendations of EMSHA groups eg Board, Health and Safety Committee, and in line with Health and Safety guidance.  The programme aims to ensure that staff are compliant with relevant regulations and guidelines (local and National); workplace risks are assessed and reduced; negligence and accidents are reduced; staff and visitors are safer.

We also have a number of other training and development initiatives which will help you to perform as well as possible in your role, and to reach your potential.  All employees will be provided with training and development opportunities to aid their personal development.
