Career Management and Role Development

Start point:

The role of clinical professionals is widening to encompass the need to be partners and leaders as well as practitioners, to be more commercially aware and take on formal management and leadership roles. Training and education pathways do not always reflect this need.

End point:

We need to be in a position to implement national professional modernisation programmes building any changes into our planning and training processes and delivering further education and training in appropriate settings and within appropriate timescales.

How we got there:

A number of projects are already underway in the East Midlands outside the scope of the programme to support implementation, for example, the move to all degree nursing. Links are being made between the programme and these other projects to ensure that they will meet the needs of our clinical vision for patient care.
