East Midlands Healthcare Knowledge and Library Services Group

Welcome to the web pages of the East Midlands Healthcare Knowledge and Library Services Group.

The Group was established in 2006.  It is accountable to the East Midlands Strategic Health Authority and individual members are accountable within their own organisations.

The Group meets every three months.  Current Chair of the Group is Richard Marriott, Contracts and Quality Manager of NHS East Midlands.  Recent meeting minutes and a list of service managers are available online. 

The current work programme includes :

  • Quality assurance of health libraries

  • Purchasing electronic resources to augment national provision of e-resources

  • Contributing to national health library initiatives through participation in various working groups

  • Developing an access agreement so that any member of the health and social care workforce can use any NHS Library

  • Encouraging partnership working between health and public libraries and, in particular, supporting the Inspire project

  • Expanding and developing the Current Awareness Service for Health

  • Collaborative purchasing of electronic journals
